A tough encounter against Stone 2 saw Finchfield Mens 2s needing a win to give them a chance of securing second place in the league. Level on points with local rivals Old Wulfs at the start of the day but with a +9 goal difference meant Finchfield were in the driving seat.

A positive start by the Finches limited Stones attacking opportunities and Boyle opened the scoring half way through the first half.

HT 1-0

Stone started the second half strongly and equlised with a goal mouth scramble before taking the lead shortly after from a PC.

Finchfield applied pressure and levelled the scores through Bradley before taking the lead again with another well worked goal for Bradleys brace.

With the pressure telling on the Stone defence Bradley made it three, but Stone began to press, desperate to get something from the game. The Finches defence stood strong and Parker made several saves, but a disputed offence in the circle saw Stone pull one back. Finches dug in and saw the game out, ending the season with their eleventh win of the season.

Local rivals Old Wulfs managed a 6-1 win against bottom of the league Streetly in a scrappy game. This was not enough for them to overturn the goal difference advantage Finchfield had, giving Finchfield the reward they deserve for a tough season.
