Great result against strong opposition

On the 17th of September 2 very strong sides, Finchfield and Bridgnorth faced off in a friendly match having come back off good campaigns last season getting promoted and just missing off promotion last season respectively.
The game started well for Finchfield and within the first 5 minutes they looked like the stronger team, creating more chances but unfortunately they lacked the cutting edge up front to take advantage of a few good opportunities. As the first half went on Bridgnorth slowly got back into it by moving the ball confidently around the back but they didn’t really look like they had the ability to create any chances.
After 15 minutes of fast paced hockey Finchfield finally made a break through with a counter attacking goal started with a hard working James Green playing a wide ball that found Tim freeman, he then played a lovely 20-yard pass that found Archie Harris on the baseline. Harris picked his head up and found Alex Woodall at the back post to sweep the ball into an empty net to give the advantage to Finchfield.
The game then went fairly quiet for 10 minutes and after the 25-minute mark Finchfield collapsed conceding 2 quick fire goals, due to switching off defensively to turn the game on its head and pile the pressure back onto Finchfield. At half time Bridgnorth went in much the happier side after playing some good hockey to score 2 goals past a very experienced Finchfield defence.
In the second half Bridgnorth looked to extend their lead, creating 3 very good chances and winning a lot of short corners; but with 10 minutes’ left a dead and buried Finchfield side grabbed an equaliser against the run of play. A good defensive tackle from Noah Plowman started the attack and he quickly gave the ball to Henry Crampton on the wing who gave a good through ball to Archie Harris who was busy all day up front, had a vicious shot that rebounded off the keeper that fell to the superb Tim Freeman who made no mistake and flicked the ball into the bottom corner. As the game was drawing to a close Finchfield were sitting back and playing for the draw who allowed the pressure to keep coming at them. Bridgnorth attacked time after time but could not break through the solid Finchfield defence who managed to see the game out to grab a good draw against a very strong Bridgnorth side. Finchfield now go on to play away at Redditch on the 24th of September as their last pre-season friendly.
