This week Finchfield were playing Telford and Wrekin HC at home. Finches managed to put last week’s loss behind them and started with fast paced, high intensity hockey and as a result managed to race into a 4 goal lead inside 20 minutes with 2 goals from Darren Holyhead and a goal each for Tim Freeman and Mike Denny. Telford then slowly got back into the game as they pulled a goal back shortly before the half time whistle to make it 4-1. In the 2nd half Telford came out attacking and managed to get a relatively early goal to pull it back to 4-2. Finches came back with an almost instant reply through Darren Holyhead who claimed his hat trick as he rattled a shot from the top of the circle into the bottom right corner. Telford again came back with another goal to make it a nervy last 10 minutes for Finchfield but Tim Freeman managed to grab his 2nd goal of the afternoon and finish the match off at 6-3 and Finches claimed their first 3 points of the new campaign. They are hoping to carry on their momentum with an away trip to Wednesbury on the cards next week.
